“The GFHBoards Epic Longboard Story Competition”
BRING YOUR PHATTEST, MOST JUICY LONGBOARD TALE HERE!
The deal: Admit it. If you skate you like to show off! Not only with your tricks, which look easy when you’ve polished them, but with your stories of how much you f%^ yourself up down that long road to nail them. So you should be proud of these stories! You deserve to be. It hurt. But it was totally good and worth it, right?
We think so. And so we have decided at long last it is time to reward one of you for your epic experience. And get this, because we know boarders like to show off we don’t even care if its FACT OR FICTION!
Send us your most epic/surreal/enlightened moment on the longboard. 300 words only.
The prize is one of these SWEET GFH BOARDS which I should have kept myself. (You choose which one you want!)

It all started in the shed, yep, THE shed.
Myself and the farther were having some father son “bonding time”…we(as in I) had the idea to make a 42″ pintail out of 7 ply veneer bamboo from some little shack in taupo, me being an empty pocket teen went for a cheap seconds bin, the father tried to warn me that the “seconds bin is usually crap man, be careful” but with a flick of THE finger whenb his back had turned i made up my mind, SECONDS IT WAS!
It arrived about 4 days late but the stoke was massive in my head as tis was gonna be my first DIY board, we set the press upp that my uncle used to use back in the 80’s and got to work, needless to say i got screamed at plenty of times and even managed to warp part of the press……..(dont ask); but we did it!
it had no concave but a fair amount of flex, i chucked on some old randals with some scavenged gummies and was on my way!
I had a funny feeling that taking my board over to the city on the last ferry to ride down queenstreet was a bad idea but hey, i was amped on caffeine and the thrill of looking at my board on the trip there, anyway i get off the ferry and make my way over there, i notice the board rides great appart from a hairline crack down the middle between the trucks but i think i’ll just thrash it once before it breaks…
BAD IDEA…the following moments ended with board breakage, wrist fractures and a parked car getting a lovely indent from my skull…
great fun, but great equal pain also…
