As most of you know, recently we ran a longboard story competition, which was supposedly sponsored by GFHboards. Well thats what they said..
I was approached GFHboards a while ago. They were interested in advertising on Skurfboards.com. So we decided to hold a longboard story contest. We cut a deal, of which GFHboards would get advertising/pr in exchange for supplying a prize for the compeition, a longboard.
The competition winner was announced May 14th. GFHBoards, have gone silent and not commited to their side of the deal.
Just a little warning for all you longboarders out there, be careful when dealing with GFHBoards.
After many months of trying to fix this problem, I finally got my Romanian programmer (hacker) friend to figure it out! So comment away!
Here are a few photos I took of the infamous Jester, at Wellington’s Waitangi Park. You can also check out some videos of New Zealand Skateboard Longboarding here
We have finally come up with a winner for the GFHBoards Epic Longboard Story Competition! Yes indeed it was a close competition! Thank you for all the marvelous entries! But oh how sad we only have one winner! That rocked our Longboarding socks off! And the winner is: Sam Gundersen of New Zealand. He gets to chose from one of these Sweet GFH Longboards! This is his story, the story! The Silky Sidewalk My newly acquired concrete rash wasn’t infectious enough to alter my ambition I been in board camp for four months aint no way im backing down to Chad Doogan’s challenge I had already seen the side of defeat to that slime bag before and it isn’t a side I wish to be on again. This time however it was different it wasn’t a normal course, it wasn’t a normal hill to roll down shit I didn’t know a boarder that lived that had this on there CV, after all this was the K13.. The day before tomorrow was full of uncertainty, impulse regret and fame. Sure my friends were wanting to get there say. “don’t hit it braâ€Â, “Chad’s not worth it†mixed with “you got this one in the bag†and “rip the lid of this thing†They just wanted to relief any guilt if something happened to me up there and claim inspiration to my fame. The stage was set the helicopter set us down below the days cloud line, the track twisted and guttered its way down the mountain, it made me feel sick. The green light leaped out of my eyes and down to my pushing foot my brand new Striker 3000 accelerated faster than stuff that goes fast. I checked my speedometer wristwatch 20km, 45km it was rising quicker than my nerves but at this speed there was no coming off. I didn’t notice the 2 foot fissure arcing though the track however neither did Chad he clipped it spilling his body all over the concrete, his board wedged in the gap and bridged my way, a turn of events no one foresaw. The rest was a relieved cruise through the last 1750 vertical feet, My chest broke the finish ribbon and the trapped souls of native Indians were finally released. I will soon announce the next competition, tune in soon!
